Anna Vilenskaya’s lecture at Reforum Space on music and propaganda before the 20th century

On the evening of January 28, Anna Vilenskaya gave a lecture at the Reforum Space coworking venue on the topic of “Music and Propaganda before the 20th Century.”

We talked about why Pope Gregory I didn’t play the piano, which composers were brought to Earth by aliens, and whether it’s okay to sing along with Gregorian chant. It was a fun and genuinely interesting talk.

This lecture was the first in a series of three about the use of music as a tool of propaganda. The next two lectures will take place on February 4 and 11 at the same venue.

D for diplomacy and de-escalation
“What the hell are you even talking about, you maniac??”
“Oh, that’s what you mean. Approved.”
